just got this from Atty. Jaime Mariano of Creative Commons Philippines:

"...Yes, your album will be the first in the Philippines to be released commercially under a CC-PH license. The first singer-song writer who released her song unde CC-Phils is Judge Lisa Sempio Diy or Lisa Diy in the music circle. She performed in Taiwan last January with other Asian artists. I will attend your album launch. If it's okey with you, I will try to invite Lisa too and my deputy Atty. Berne Guerrero to be with me on that night. You can text me at 0917*******.

Warm regards,

jimmy..."

releasing IDENTITY THEFT under a CREATIVE COMMONS license means that the band is giving outright permission to other artists to remix their work and release it to the world under their names as long as it is under the same (share-alike) license. An example of this would be Fort Minor's Remember The Name. Also, check out the whole of DJ Vadim's Soundcatcher album. About two weeks ago, Nine Inch Nails released their latest album, Ghosts I-IV under basically the same license that Drip is releasing their album (NIN uses a US-ported license; Drip is using a Philippines-ported license). DJ Spooky is another well known advocate of CREATIVE COMMONS. Hope that helps!

ok. so that means if someone wants to remix one of your songs, that's ok as long as they make it available for everyone to remix it, right?
